Human beings have used a variety of methods for achieving altered states across the world for longer than history has been recorded. Each night as you lie down to rest, you enter into a cycle of stages that bridge the time between your alter waking hours. Perhaps you dream of your day, what you would like to be, what you fear, but that's for you to think on. For better or worse, people will engage in a variety of altered states through their particular choice.
Many people enjoy a drink after work, perhaps some cannabis with friends, coffee to stay up late, & have a smoke break the next morning. Some have mastered yoga or meditation, & some have even been able to control their dreams. Psychonautics is the methodology of exploring states of consiousness that we typically don't experience in eveyday life. Sometimes it is used for understanding of the human experience, attempting to understand the universe, spiritual purposes, or for fun.
The posts here are not an endorsement of substance use, in fact it is generally advisable to not put anything into your body, or do anything to your body that does not need to be in your body or done to it. Nothing we say or do will discourage someone who would do drugs anyway, & we definitely do not think anyone should start using any psychoactive substances without a medical professional signing off, or at least without significant research. These posts are intended for those who decide to take the second approach. If you are going to use psychoactive substances, we ask for you to look around for a while about the substance you are planning to ingest, the history behind it, other's experiences, & the potential effects that may occur. Your safety & health come before any fun or exploration you may wish to do. You only get one body to live in (for now), treat it right.
